Kate Middleton: Royal Family

Friday, May 27, 2011

After last week’s engagement announcement, looks like Kate Middleton, Prince Williams’ long-term girlfriend for the past 8 years, is in preparation to stand at the center of the fashion world. William’s mother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997 in a car crash in Paris, was at the center of tabloids during and after her infamous marriage to Prince Charles;
she was just as scrutinized as she was admired for the clothing she wore, the charitable work she did and the private life she tried desperately to hide.

And now it looks like Kate Middleton is next in line to fill the big shoes – already the most photographed woman in Britain and the soon-to-be wife of Prince William, first-born son of the beloved Princess of England and the second in line (after his Prince Charles) to become king.

Kate’s style reflects both effortless grace and natural beauty, qualities Princess Diana epitomized herself. With long brown hair and an aristocratic flare, the 28 year old seems to stay away from radical looks and adopts a more mainstream fashion sense. “She has a feminine streak, and she dresses very much for herself, she’s not a slaving fashionista,” said Hilary Alexander, fashion director of The Telegraph newspaper. “She’s never obvious. But there will be massive pressure on her now. I don’t think we’ve had a royal wedding on this scale for nearly 30 years.”

With pretty dimples, long legs and poised posture, Middleton seems to go for the white and black colors, classic outfits and full length single-colored coats – her style hasn’t even changed that much in the past 8 years under the spotlight. She hasn’t pleaded allegiance to any particular designers yet – but has been shown in Daniella Issa Helayel on numerous occasions.

From formal evening gowns with plunging necklines, to jeans and sweaters – she seems to look good under any spotlight. Middleton actually comes from a pedigree of self-made millionaires but doesn’t seem to go for the expensive look much either. On her 25th birthday she was photographed in a Topshop dress – a low-priced item that made headlines everywhere selling out in just a day.

Recently, she’s been spotted wearing custom-made pieces but will no doubt soon adopt more royal looks once she takes part in becoming an official member of the royal family.

So what are we looking forward to most from the woman who will take center stage? None other than the wedding dress! Editor of Brides Magazine, Deborah Joseph says: “It’s a British royal wedding, there’s no need to look abroad,” said Joseph. “Obviously there will be lots of speculation on the designer now, it depends which route Kate takes. She may give a nod to Princess Diana, and use one of her designers, like Bruce Oldfield or Amanda Wakeley, or she may make a statement of her own”.

Ahhh, the joys of royals in the spotlight!…
